Rosemary Epperson

Rosemary Epperson is a Maryland native whose affinity for and interest in textiles and sewing techniques has been a continuous thread throughout her life. This interest in all things fiber was stimulated during her youth by instruction in embroidery and machine sewing from relatives and home arts teachers which she used to make her own clothes. Rosemary’s knowledge and skills were further developed through formal academic classes in fabric dyeing, quilting, weaving, felting and beading at Towson University in the Fiber Crafts program which was discontinued. This specialized background was invaluable to Rosemary during her thirty years as the licensed clothing buyer, merchandiser and, ultimately, Director of the Towson University Store.

Now a youthful retiree from TU, Rosemary is enhancing and refining her sewing and design skills through pattern-making and couture sewing classes at the Maryland Academy of Couture Arts. Her current focus is to transform practical, quality clothing into wearable art by embellishing it with combinations of whatever techniques are most appropriate for the garment such as applique and embroidery. Her creative process is organized, but also flexible to allow for imaginative insights discovered during the process. Rosemary also believes that hand-stitching imparts a special touch of the human hand and imagination that distin
guishes custom clothing from mass-produced readty-to-wear. She is excited about the opportunity to share her expertise and enthusiasm with others.
